When you create an account or are invited to the platform, we collect: name, email address, phone number, city/state, role/title, and organization affiliation.

1.2 Referral Information

When referrals are submitted, we collect: contact name, email, phone number, move date, move type, addresses, and service preferences of the person being referred.

1.3 Financial Information

Payment information (credit cards, bank accounts) is collected and processed securely by Stripe. MoveRef does not store full credit card numbers or bank account details on our servers.

1.4 Usage Information

We collect information about how you use the platform: pages visited, features used, referral submissions, login times, and device/browser information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information for:

  • Platform Operations: Managing referrals, processing payments, facilitating communication between parties
  • Billing: Generating invoices, processing payouts, tracking earnings
  • Verification: Verifying move completions, validating revenue reports, preventing fraud
  • Communication: Sending transactional emails (referral updates, payment confirmations, surveys)
  • Analytics: Improving platform features, understanding usage patterns, generating reports

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third-party services as necessary for platform operations:

  • Stripe — Payment processing (credit cards, bank transfers, invoicing)
  • Supabase — Database hosting and authentication
  • Resend — Transactional email delivery
  • Twilio — SMS delivery (post-move surveys only)
  • Google Places API — Business profile verification (ratings, reviews)
  • Vercel — Website hosting

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Financial records are retained for 7 years for tax and compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your account data at any time (see Section 7).

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Row-level security policies on all database tables
  • Role-based access control
  • Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
  • PCI-compliant payment processing via Stripe

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We may use privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible) to understand usage patterns. We do not use tracking cookies from advertising networks.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information via your profile settings
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

9. Children's Privacy

MoveRef is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email at least 30 days before they take effect.
